This year Christmas was different for me.  In the past, when the decorations started going up at Thanksgiving; and the familiar songs traditionally sung during Christmas, “The Hallelujah Chorus”, “Joy to the World”, and “Silent Night” are blasting through the air waves; and of course, thousands of big guys in red suits with the “Ho Ho Ho” greetings are strategically distributed around the world, I honestly wanted to hide.  Clearly my “Scrooge” energy is from a disempowering source.  My gift to myself this year was to challenge myself to search deeply for the thoughts that are the roots of these feelings and change my Christmas experience once and for all.

My Christmas past was holding on to years of being disappointed at Christmas, having never received the “perfect gift” or the “right” person under the mistletoe or even having little ones to pass on the Santa trick, was seriously choking off my ability to breath in the authentic Christmas spirit.  While my Christmas present, being home with my Dad this year, somehow supported this self purging process and realization that I can simply chose to create a different experience by choosing from what matters to me.  What matters to me is my personal relationship with Jesus the Christ, and Christmas is his birthday!  I love birthdays and I love Jesus.  In fact, I believe the spirit of Christmas should be celebrated within our being moment by moment, everyday of the year.  I agree with Calvin Coolidge when he said, “Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas."  Man, what an amazing vision of Christmas yet to come I created when I changed what was generating my thoughts about Christmas.  I am overflowing with love, hope and a genuine peace throughout the core of my being.  Here is to the Spirit of Christmas abiding within you always!  Hope you had a Merry, Merry Christmas, “Ho Ho Ho” and a Happy Birthday Jesus day.
